Media Institutions 

For my posters, I will make sure they adhere to the rules of the ASA. I will ensure this by making sure they are suitable for everyone to view, as they will be displayed at bus stops around towns and city centres, where anyone can view them even if they are not the target audience. They will not contain any offensive or graphic content, allowing them to be suitable for any audience or age group- particularly children, as they are not the target audience but still should not be harmful to them. The series will not be broadcast on TV, it will be on ITVX, so it will not need to be scheduled after the watershed to protect younger audiences.  

Media Representation 

To make the series appealing to its target audiences, it must be portrayed in a positive light to ensure they are interested in watching the show. I intend on targeting the show mainly at women, so the two main characters will be women. In the posters, I will ensure they both look serious and in control. This will add to the element of power in the characters as we will be following their journey in solving the disappearances. The characters will come from two different social groups, making it more inclusive and will extend the target audience. 

Media Audience and Media Language 

The show will be targeted at an audience aged 16-25, who are fans of TV thrillers. The poster will help to target this age bracket by only including characters within the target age group- for example, two young girls returns back to her hometown after hearing of 5 disappearances. This will appeal to the audience by making them feel represented accurately by the show. I will construct the bus posters to be engaging from the first view, with little information as younger audience may feel overwhelmed by it, but enough for them to be interested in watching it. I will ensure the characters are placed in the center, with a simple location. I will design 2 types of posters, one with the coastal settings and the other with close-ups of the characters.

  TV Thriller Research   Shows I researched:    Black Doves, The Perfect Couple, Sherlock, Squid Game, Breaking Bad Black Doves (2024)   For Black Doves, the main target audience is woman due to the show having a female lead character. It may also target adult men, as a male character is shown in the poster in the background. The show includes two famous actors, possibly targeting fans of the actors to watch the show. The series involves violence, as pictured with the guns, so will be directed at young adults and adults. With the red, bold text it applies to the thriller genre as red is usually linked to danger and even blood- indicating the show involves some of this. It has a bleak colour scheme with black and red being used, and the use of the characters serious facial expressions leaves the viewers questioning who they are and what their intent is. They are not pointing the guns at each other, but to the sides which may indicate they are on the same team....

TV Thriller Planning - Final Idea

  Planning for TV Thriller   For my TV thriller, it is a mystery crime concept. A small coastal town s community i s left on edge after 5 disappearances take place . T he two main characters return to their hometown after years away, after both studying to become journalists, only to find out that their childhood friends are among  the missing people. After trying to uncover the reason behind the disappearances, sh e begins to delve deeper into the town’s dark past and a series of secrets that are connected to the disappearances. Each episode brings them closer to the hidden past of the town and finally uncovering the truth of the disappearances.   The main target audience is 16–25-year-olds, and mine wi ll specifically try to target women. My adverts will appeal to the target audience by including two women within this age bracket .
